A message from the Commodore:

The General Committee met on the evening of 17th March (via Skype!) to agree what should be done at Dell Quay following the government’s new measures introduced on Monday evening.

With immediate effect:

  1. All Club organised sailing and social activities, including training and Victoria yachts, will be suspended until at least the end of April.
  2. The Galley (including the honour galley) and the bar will be closed until further notice.
  3. The cruiser lift in, scheduled for the 11th April, will be postponed until at least 7 May.
  4. The Club House, changing rooms and workshop will remain available to members, subject always to compliance with current guidelines in relation to social distancing, self-isolation, and hygiene, particularly hand cleaning.  The Club will continue to be cleaned weekly
  5. Private bookings of the Club House are suspended until further notice.

This is not a prohibition on sailing at Dell Quay, at this time members may choose to attend the Club and sail at their own risk.  Members are however asked to ensure that any activity at or around the Club is consistent with the government’s requirements.

The General Committee and I appreciate that this is difficult just as the season starts and the weather improves.  We must however take action consistent with the government’s proposals, particularly in relation to contact, where the Prime Minister said everyone was: ‘to stop non essential contact with others and to … avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues’.

These measures will be subject to ongoing review and will be updated as soon as possible after any further change in Government guidance.

Please do continue to look after yourselves and each other at what is a difficult time.  As the GC have found Skype and other tools such as WhatsApp are good ways to stay in touch.

Regards,

Ben
