Dell Quay members are flying the club flag high at Race Week 2017.
On Wednesday evening, with the event just over half-way through, Martyn Jones was leading the Laser Radial fleet overall, with his daughters Hazel and Ella in fourth and seventh places in the Oppie event.
Four DQSC Solos are racing in one of the biggest fleets, 34 boats, with Mark Harper currently eighth, Roger Puttock 10th, Mike Shaw 23rd and David Maltby - who had to retire from Tuesday’s race after his kicking strap broke - 26th. The DQ competitors are completed by Sue and Beckie Manning sailing the club 2000, sensibly reefing in Wednesday’s strong winds, and 13th overall in the 27-boat Medium Handicap 2-man fleet.
All are enjoying great racing in often challenging conditions.
The club is well represented among the volunteer helpers ensuring that the 505 competitors (328 boats) have a memorable week, with Roy Dyton and Peter Matthews helming Mary Ross and Alfie, Rob Nunn and Liz Sagues in the race office, and Mark Harper and Jean Sagues handling protests.
