Cobnor Camp 2018

A few notes from another awesome Cobnor Camp (2018)...

Another fantastic weekend was had by all as members descended on Cobnor for the (eigth?) time! Approaching sixty members of all ages enjoyed a mixture of camping, sailing, socialising and adults vs kids sport!

Most campers arrived on friday in the balmy late afternoon sun and once pitched enjoyed a bite to eat and some campfire merriment. Well done to all the 16 year old member who used Cobnor as a celebration after finishing thier GCSE exams! (Lizzie Kies sailed with her Dad and fitted in a pub lunch at Itchenor mid-sail on friday - alright for some!). Saturday dawned slightly overcast and breezy but this did not stop several Wayfarers, Wanderers, Picos and a Mirror making the lively sail from Dell Quay during the early afternoon. On arrival at Cobnor, sailors were rewarded by a visit from the 'ice cream boat' much to the delight of our junior members. The evening on saturday saw the much anticipated annual adults v kids tug of war and football match. I think the adults took both by a narrow margin but it does get a little harder each year! After a hearty cooked breakfast on sunday a smaller fleet took a sail upwind to Pilsey for a picnic lunch followed a by a speedy sail home with wind and tide in our favour. With the galley still open team Cobnor 2018 had the distinct look of 'happy campers'!

See you next year... or else! Jon Wilburn W8141
