Friday Over The Yardarm with Harbour Oysters talk by Lottie and Poppie Johns
Harbour Oysters: using the power of oysters to naturally restore our coastal waters
Harbour Oysters restores native oysters in harbours to improve water quality. The programme, run by Lottie and Poppy Johns, two sisters from Chichester Harbour, installs these oysters in baskets suspended underneath pontoons, to naturally and effectively remove pollutants from sea water - a single oyster filtering over 150 Litres of water per day. The oysters then breed to help restore wild populations, as our once abundant native oyster beds are now one of the most endangered habitats in Europe.
Following a successful launch last year, by the end of this season they will have installed nearly 30,000 oysters. Come to hear their story and their plans to use the power of nature to help improve our local water quality and biodiversity challenges.
There will be a simple meal available of Meat of Vegetarian Chilli and rice, followed by Ice Cream
You will not be billed for these tickets until closer to the event, this to avoid having to make refunds
