Junior Week
Dell Quay Sailing Club
Junior Week 2026
Sunday 26th July to Friday 31st July
Online booking will open at 14:00 on the 24th January 2025
What is Junior Week?
Dell Quay Junior Week is a week long opportunity for all Juniors to progress their sailing skills, have some fun on the water and to enjoy time with their friends. The week is structured around the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme and some Juniors may be awarded a certificate at the end of the week. Older Juniors may be eligible for the RYA Seamanship Skills course.
In 2026 we have early tides, so will be running an introductory and initial theory session on the afternoon of Sunday 26th July, with the sailing from the Monday to Friday. The Sunday will be about 2½ hours long, and the other days about 7½ hours long, based around high tide times. We haven't set the exact times yet, but with early tides, the Monday is likely to start around 8am, and finishing mid afternoon. The start time will get progressively later throughout the week. It is important that Juniors are able to attend for all days.
Who can apply?
Junior week is available to all club members currently in School Year 3 up to School Year 10. Your club membership for the current year MUST have been renewed prior to applying for a place - the application process will not be visible to those that aren't current members
How to apply?
Applications will be online through the website (a link will appear here closer to the time). Booking will be enabled at 2pm on 24th January.
How much does it cost?
There are two different costs for Junior Week - where you can provide your own suitable dinghy (this will depend on your Juniors age and ability) will be £140, and if you wish to use a dinghy provided by the club it will be £180.
Is there anything I need to do in advance?
You should login to the club website and check your family membership. If you are the person doing the booking, you need to be able to "see" your children/grandchildren as part of your membership. This should have already been set up, but there may be one or two that were missed. If you think there's an issue, please e-mail subscription.
You will also need to ensure emergency contact information and any special medical/dietary information is included in your Juniors membership record. This will be used for planning and throughout the week, so it is vital it is accurate. You can check this by selecting the green Update button to the right of your child's/grandchild's name. If there is no special medical/dietary information, please insert "None" so that we know the information has been updated.
If your Junior will be sailing their own dinghy, you should also ensure that it is visible in your membership records in your My Boats section. Again, if there's an issue, please e-mail subscription.
Although this might seem like a lot of information to prepare in advance, it will then be held within the clubs secure membership database and can be used for all future events.
You will also need to think about volunteering for the week. We ask that at least one parent/grandparent helps out for a minimum of 3 days (more if possible) throughout the week. You will be asked to identify all the days you could be available on the application form, and then we will arrange a volunteer roster around this information. The more days you can identify, the easier it is to ensure there is cover in all areas throughout the week. If you have any other questions, please e-mail subscription.
If you have any other questions, please e-mail juniorweek
Regards.
