Laying up Rally to Bembridge Tuesday 7th & Wednesday 8th October 2025

Published 14:37 on 16 Oct 2025 by Sue PEARSON

We had a fantastic turnout for this rally with 9 boats with 19 crew aboard plus Toby the dog.

  • Mandalay Sarah, Martin and Toby,
  • Fairwind Sue and Barrie,
  • Hobo Pam and Ron,
  • Navigator Stephen and Richard,
  • Niobe Bill and Dick,
  • Jevon Derek and Carolyn,
  • Carene Chris and David,
  • Roussillon Andy, Chris and Tim,
  • Altair Liz and Rob
were all slotted into finger berths further up the pontoon than our usual rally rafting area.

It was great to meet new boats to our rallies Liz and Rob on Altair, and Stephen and Richard on Navigator we look forward to seeing you all on the rallies in 2026.

3 of the boats Mandalay, Jevon and Altair, set off a day early to make the most of the lovely warm weather, and enjoyed an extra day in Bembridge. The others joined us on Tuesday.
The wind was a little too light and the direction too tight for most of us to sail all the way across and make it in time before the water ran out at Bembridge, but most of us did at least enjoy sailing at least part of the way across.

On the way back most boats motor sailed across as the wind was very light, but Mandalay managed to fly the kite for an hour or so.

The marina allowed us to use their marquee on the quay for pre-supper drinks on Tuesday. We then went up to The Vine for supper, and rounded off with breakfast at the Duver Café on Wednesday morning. We all enjoyed a lot of bonhomie, good weather and it was a fine end to our Centenary cruising season.
