Paddle out Protest

Published 16:51 on 27 Apr 2026

Dell Quay Sailing Club has supported Surfers Against Sewage for some years. This year DQ and Chichester Canoe Club are joining together to support the SAS 'Paddle Out Protest'.

Sewage and pollution affects all of us who use Chichester Harbour for recreation be you a swimmer, paddleboarder, kayaker, sailor, walker or nature lover.

We invite you to join us in a peaceful protest to raise awareness of sewage pollution and its impacts on our environment. Chichester Canoe Club will be hosting a petition stand on the end of the quay about the water quality issues which members may wish to sign.

We hope to have three groups, a land based group on the foreshore, a shallow water group comprising swimmers, Sups and kayaks, and a deep water group in dinghies and other boats. The colours of the protest are yellow and blue. Wherever you are on the harbour on 16th May, you can show support by displaying a ribbon or similar in yellow and blue.

Our aim is to show our public concern about the problem and hopefully get some media coverage to support the campaign.

If you need more information, would like to help, or just confirm that you will be there to support us please contact Yvette Thair

If you are feeling creative we are having a poster making session on the evening of Monday the 11th May. Even if you cannot make the Paddle Out Protest come and support us by helping make up some posters and get your message across.
