A cracking start to the 2024 rowing season!

As always, Itchenor proved to be the consumate hosts. A warm reception, slick briefing and timely schedule set up the seven harbour clubs in attendance for a great event.
DQ ladies opened our account in their 1K sprint heat, competing against the hosts and winning in a time of 9 mins 38 secs.
The mens heats followed and again DQ won their individual race with a time of 6 mins 25 secs.
In the mixed sprint event our rowers achieved a time of 7 mins 10 secs.
The 3K distance row proved a challenging affair with the back leg of the race punching against both wind and tide. Our ladies crew completed the course in 12 mins 42 secs, the men in 10 mins 8 secs and the mixed crew 11 mins 40 secs.
To our great delight, the men were awarded silverware for their performance in the mens sprint event, having taken 1st place. They also achieved a creditable 2nd place in the distance event, only 30 seconds behind the winning Itchenor crew.
Our ladies crew took second in the ladies sprint and our mixed crew joint second in their sprint event. A great overall accomplishment for the club and a mark of the progress we've made in a relatively short space of time! Well done to all! And many thanks to those who make it possible for us all to be involved in these great events.
And of course, to our very vocal supporters.
We have a full season of regattas and events this year. With at least one event per month. We are always keen to welome new rowers of any standard. Please feel free to come along and give rowing a try!
